What is xbox?

Xbox is a video gaming platform invented and owned by Microsoft corporation. This is a video gaming console that has different versions like six, seven and eight th generations. It contains gaming applications and streaming system services. The gaming brand name was first introduced in USA- November 2001. The Xbox console was also launched in the same time.

This gaming platform has three main generations like First generation: Xbox, Second generation: Xbox 360 and Third generation: Xbox One.

The Xbox 360

Microsoft’s gaming system Xbox has many gaming capabilities. The Xbox 360 allows high definition gaming and top quality graphics. It is designed for online competitive gaming. The company has announced its next generation console called the Xbox one in May 2013. This is an all-in-one device that merges live TV with online gaming. The price of an Xbox depends on its storage capacity, model, accessories and the type of games you purchase.

Key Xbox One DRM Features

Xbox One DRM has been a controversial topic lately, with many people outraged by the idea of having to connect to Xbox Live once every 24 hours to play games. Microsoft could have handled the Xbox One DRM outcry a lot better, instead of letting rumors about the Xbox One DRM run rampant on the internet for the last couple of weeks

Official details regarding the Xbox One DRM, always on requirement of the Xbox One and Privacy features have been released by Microsoft. The official announcement includes details about what you can do with the Xbox One, can’t do, along with your rights and non rights.

Features

  • Playing all your games at a friends house by simply signing in to your profile, no disc will be required.
  • Buy either on disc, or digital download on release day
  • Mandatory connection to Xbox Live once every 24 hours for your primary console, once every hour for any additional console you game on.
  • Offline gaming will not be possible if the console has not connected to Xbox Live for over 24 hours.
  • Like with the Xbox 360, anyone can play games on your console, regardless of the person owning the game or not.
  • A shared games library – up to ten people can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One.
  • One of your friends / family members can play games from your shared library at the same time as you. This means one of you can purchase the next Halo game and you can both play it on different consoles at the same time.
  • Ability to give a game you own to a friend on Xbox Live who you have been friends with for more than 30 days.
  • Kinect can be disabled and only used when a game requires features of the Kinect.
  • Personal data will not leave your Xbox One without your explicit permission e.g. photo / video taken by Kinect.

Although i’m not a fan of the  Xbox One DRM (or any DRM for that matter), I do like how my game library can be shared with up to 10 others friends, and that one friend can be playing a new game I own at the same time as myself. Will this help cull the negativity about the Xbox One that has been spreading over the internet lately? Only time will tell, however I think the 24 hour check in is going to be a massive issue over the next couple of years.
